40 Year Los Angeles Native Perspective-Navigating the Wildfire Devastation in Los Angeles

by Maiyah Jimenez

Los Angeles has always been my home. From growing up in Gardena; moving to South Central LA in high school; purchasing a property in Compton and then a second property in Long Beach. I built my career working in communities like Brentwood, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. This city and its surrounding neighborhoods have been a constant in my life. But nothing could have prepared me for the devastation I’ve witnessed recently due to the wildfires tearing through our beloved region, including the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires.

The picturesque landscapes that have long been the backdrop of our lives are now scarred, and the impact has rippled through communities, affecting families, homeowners, renters, and even our furry friends. My own family has felt the effects of these wildfires, and I understand how overwhelming it can be to navigate this new reality. That’s why I’ve put together this blog post to serve as a resource for anyone seeking help or looking to give back during this time.

The strength of Los Angeles lies in its people. While these fires have left destruction in our wake, they have also shown the resilience, generosity, and compassion of our community. If you’re in a position to help, even the smallest gesture can make a big difference.
